Use only Authorized Construction & Demolition Haulers

The City of San Jose administers a non-exclusive franchise for debris haulers. Only those haulers with prior City approval are authorized to haul temporary waste bins. This program specifically applies to those projects generating construction and demolition debris (demolition projects, new construction and alterations) or residential clean outs (i.e., garage and moving clean outs). A great example of a legal authorized hauler is Premier Recycle Company . They hold Non-Exclusive hauler agreements with multiple cities including San Jose and they have been in business over 30 years with a strong reputation in the community.

Using authorized haulers in the city limits that take material exclusively to third-party certified facilities ensures proper recycling and disposal of your waste. Hauling with an unauthorized hauler who may dump at a facility that is not 3rd party certified or may dump illegally can open you up to unexpected liability and exposure, and you could lose deposit funds with the CDD program

Use only City-Certified and Third Party Verified Recycling Locations

City-Certified Construction and Demolition (C&D) Recycling Facilities divert a substantial amount of C&D debris from landfills and Third-party verification is important because it builds trust, ensures accuracy, and helps facilities meet regulatory and market demands. This process verifies the accuracy of recycling and recovery rates, improves internal processes, and provides credibility for environmental reporting, which is crucial for programs like LEED, CDD and TRUE.

Mandatory Commercial Recycling Laws

Why It Matters

Using unauthorized haulers or facilities may result in loss of building permit deposit funds with the CDD program because you will be unable to upload approved weight tickets to Green Halo . This could also create project delays, unexpected financial burdens and difficulty obtaining a certificate of occupancy. Using unauthorized haulers and recycle facilities that are not third party certified is not worth the risk!
